How does HIFU work?

High Intensity Focussed Ultrasound, usually known as HIFU, is a technique used to smooth and tighten skin. At NYLC, we can administer a HIFU treatment on the face, as well as other areas of the body such as the arms, abdomen, thighs and lower legs, among others. During your initial consultation, you can discuss which areas you would like to treat.

We use a medical-grade Ultracel Q+ machine when administering all HIFU treatments. The machine works by heating specified target areas with High Intensity Focused Ultrasound, and the acoustic energy from this procedure then reaches the subcutaneous layer of the skin, deep below its sensitive surface. This means that we can guarantee no damage is caused to the skin. Once the HIFU has been applied, new collagen is produced, which tightens the skin and helps to remove cellulite.

What to Expect From a Fat Freezing Treatment

During a HIFU treatment at NYLC, our clients will usually report feeling a slight stinging or prickling sensation due to the electric pulses of the machine. Of course our estheticians will do whatever they can to ensure you are as comfortable as possible. We will also be able to stop the procedure at any time if you are uncomfortable.

The wonderful thing about HIFU treatments is that they do not require any downtime. Unlike surgical facelifts, you will be able to head out of our clinic and go about your day immediately after the procedure. The only thing we suggest is to avoid extreme temperatures for a few days after your treatment (such as hot or cold showers).

The immediate results after your first HIFU treatment will depend on what you discuss with your aesthetician. During your initial consultation, you will discuss your desired results, which will inform the depth at which the HIFU is applied to your skin. Generally, our clients do see immediate results after one procedure, however some clients will choose to have a series of treatments.
