Botox treatments are carried out by injecting a neurotoxic protein called Botulinum Toxin, this is then injected directly into the specific area of your choice. Botox is a protein made from botulinum toxin that the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. The botox will work to weaken and paralyse the muscle which it is injected into, this works by blocking the nerve impulses to the skin on targeted areas of your face. It is these nerve impulses that crease your skin and cause it to wrinkle and contract, and blocking them has the effect of relaxing your facial muscles and smoothing wrinkles.
As well as tackling fine lines and wrinkles on the face, Botox has a number of other applications. It is a highly effective treatment for excessive sweating, known as hyperhidrosis. It is also a popular treatment for sagging skin and can be effective at treating tension headaches, migraines and facial spasms.
