What Is The Difference Between A Medispa And A Clinic – And What IS NYLC?
When people see ‘New York Laser Clinic and Medispa’, many ask: what exactly is a Medispa, and how is it different to a standard aesthetics clinic? Well, this blog will be sure to clear things up!
A Medispa is short for ‘medical spa’, and usually means that more advanced treatments (such as medical fat freezing, vampire facials, laser hair removal and injectables) are on offer – as is the case at NYLC. At a Medispa, medically-trained aestheticians and specialist consultants will perform these procedures. At NYLC, we have a range of medical professionals and consultants who are qualified to perform advanced aesthetics, so you can rest assured you’re always in safe hands at our clinic (and Medispa!)
Advanced Treatments Available At Our Medispa
Laser Hair Removal
At NYLC, we use grade 4 hair removal lasers that are clinically proven to work wonders. The way our laser treatment works is by a precise targeting of the pigment of the hair when it is attached to the hair follicle, during the anagen (active growth) stage. The laser damages the blood supply to the hair, putting the hair follicle in a dormant state. It is recommended to complete a course of 6-8 treatments for optimum results.
Body Contouring Treatments
Body contouring treatments (including medical fat freezing and HIFU) have recently been recognised as the non-surgical alternatives to liposuction. Medical fat freezing works by freezing the fat cells to -9 degrees, while radio frequency and amplified ultrasound targets the fat cells with heat. There is also a new technology, High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU), which targets all layers of your skin and can be used to smooth out lumps and bumps. Usually, as long as you stick to a relatively healthy lifestyle, targeted fat cells should not reappear!
Medical-grade skin peels work by dissolving the bonds of dead skin cells to help speed up your skin’s cell turnover. The chemicals allow your body to speed up the turnover of the new, fresh, healthy skin cells, pushing them to the surface, giving you a fresh healthy glow! If chemical peels aren’t for you, there are alternatives, such as microdermabrasion or herbal peels. Both will help speed up your cell turnover, just in a different way.
Microneedling & Other Facials
If you are concerned about acne scarring or uneven skin texture, microneedling, mesotherapy and vampire facials will work wonders for you. Microneedling uses 12 tiny needles to puncture the skin, promoting skin renewal and healing. Mesotherapy targets other skin concerns with a combination of serums such as hyaluronic serum and growth factors. The famous vampire facial works by injecting plasma into your skin, helping it reform and renew naturally, targeting fine lines, scarring, ageing, pigmentation and pretty much everything else!
